The original log structure, known as The Palomar Mountain Clubhouse, was constructed in the early 1900's by local craftsmen utilizing native timber and resources from Palomar Mountain. The Palomar Mountain Clubhouse hosted community gatherings and events which included dances, parties, weddings, and "inspirational talks''.
In later years rooms were added which provided lodging for out of town visitors. The Lodge was also known as Edgewood Tavern and hosted prominent world famous astronomers who traveled on the 'Highway to the Stars' to Palomar Mountain for the 1935 dedication of the Hale Telescope.
